Footwear Features/Categories
Composite Toe Footwear - Composite safety toes are non-metallic and undetectable in electronic security environments.
Conductive Safety Toe Shoes -
Conductive Safety Toe Footwear should be used in areas with highly volatile materials and must be completely grounded to prevent any build up of static electricity. Conductive Safety Toe Shoes are made with special materials and cements that offer no electrical resistance. Conductive Safety Shoe employment examples include people who work in munitions plants, fireworks factories, petroleum refineries and rocket fuel production. These conductive shoes should not be worn in areas where there are open circuits or highly charged equipment as they offer no protection. In order to maximize protections, soles on Conductive Safety Toe Shoes must be kept completely clean to insure protection.
EH Electrical Hazard Safety Shoes -
EH Electrical Hazard Safety Shoes are the type of footwear that provides workers who may come in contact with live circuits, wires or highly charged electrical equipment, a secondary source of protection from electrical shock because of the insulating properties that stop a current from being grounded for a certain length of time. Such foot protection is provided from EH Electrical Hazard Safety Shoes under dry conditions and the insulating properties will deteriorate in wet environments and with wear. EH Electrical Hazard Safety Shoes must not be worn in areas where there is static discharge or micro-circuit hazards.
ESD Safety Shoes ( Static Dissipative (SD) Footwear ) -
ESD Safety Toe Static Dissipative (SD) Footwear should be used in areas where the generation of static electricity could harm sensitive electrical equipment or ignite flammable materials. The ESD Safety Toe Shoes or Static Dissipative footwear allows small charges of static electricity to be dissipated into the walking surface, thus reducing the accumulation of static electricity. SD Safety Toe Shoes or Static Dissipative footwear employment examples include people who work on circuit boards, computer chips or paint shops. These SD Safety Toe Shoes or Static Dissipative shoes should not be worn in areas where there are open circuits or highly charged equipment.
Insulated Footwear - Insulated shoes and boots keep feet warm in cold temperatures. Recommended for people who work outdoors during the winter or in refrigerated rooms.
Metatarsal Footwear - Metatarsal safety shoes protect the upper foot (metatarsal bones) and toe area from hazards.
Safety Toe Footwear - Safety toe shoes and boots protect toes from anything heavy that may fall, roll over or step onto feet.
Slip Resistant Footwear - Recommended for food preparation, packaging or service occupations.
Waterproof Footwear - Waterproof shoes and boots keep feet dry when walking in the rain or water.
